The retirement planner at firemodel.co.uk/check runs entirely in your browser. Every calculation happens locally on your device; your figures (ages, salaries, pension balances, savings, retirement targets) are never sent to a server while you plan. They leave your device only if you choose to create a shareable link (see “Sharing a snapshot” below).

No account is required to use the planner, and planning never asks for your name or email. There is no login, no session cookie tied to your plan, and no record of your visit on our side that could be linked to financial data. (Requesting beta access, or leaving an email on the ideas board, does collect your email, which is stored separately, see below.)

As you use the planner, your inputs are kept in your own browser's local storage, a feature of your device, not of our servers. Clearing your browser data removes them. We cannot recover them, because we never had them.

You can share a read-only snapshot of a projection by link. A private link encodes the figures in the URL itself, so nothing is stored on our servers. A short link stores those same figures on firemodel so the short URL keeps working when you post it.

Either way, names are never included, and a shared snapshot is never linked to an account or an email address. Sharing is always your choice; if you never create a link, your figures never leave your device.

Full access (saving your plan, adding accounts, tracking it over time) is an invitation-only beta. If you request an invite, or leave your email on the community ideas board, we store that email so we can get in touch, an invite or a feature update you asked about. It is never shared with or sold to third parties.

Any email you give us is stored separately from the planner and is never linked to the financial figures you enter. There is no way to connect them. You can ask us to delete your email at any time.

If we use analytics (for example, to understand how many people visit the site), they will be privacy-respecting and will not track individuals across sessions. No financial data is involved. We will update this page if that changes.

We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to any third party.

firemodel is a free, independent planning tool. It is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The projections it produces are illustrative. They depend on assumptions about investment returns, inflation, and your inputs, all of which involve uncertainty. Nothing on this site is financial advice.
